Introducing elections anyone can audit.
Evidence Based
Elections are essential to representative governments and open societies around the world. As populations and societal complexity increase, reliable elections are becoming more difficult to achieve.
Current methods of elections depend on the trustworthiness of both the election system vendors and the election officials that operate those systems. Current voting and polling systems are largely based on a “trust me” type security model in which voters are asked to trust a hidden system to deliver accurate election results. Very little reliable auditing evidence is produced by current systems.
These systems are doomed to fail us.
Instead, we must have evidence-based elections that can be accepted as legitimate to everybody – especially to the losers. Elections must produce convincing public evidence that the outcomes are correct while at the same time keeping the details about each ballot cast a secret. Anyone with sufficient interest and resources should be able to examine the evidence to become convinced that the election is valid and correct.
Paper Ballots
Some say that we must abandon voting machines and instead rely on 100% paper ballots. Paper ballots are strong evidence of a voter’s choices, but how do we know that each voter only casts one ballot? How do we know that each ballot is from a legitimate voter? This has been an election dilemma since the first use of secret ballots in 1888.

InsightVoting proposes a new approach:
Insight Voting proposes a new approach that adds unique digital authentication to each ballot. This unique authentication preserves ballot secrecy and guards against vote buying and/or voter coercion. This new approach combines the best of both paper and digital ballots by making paper ballots much more secure and using digital ballots to create multiple independent audit trails.
Anyone can audit.
The result is publicly auditable elections in which anyone can verify the outcome. Ballots and voting logs can be made public. Anyone can use publicly available specifications to process the data and prove that election outcomes are correct.
InsightVoting is based on open specifications, open data, & open audits.
